Welcome to Navigating Points, a training and consultation program that helps identify ways in which attachment-informed care can help guide our work with clients. It is exciting to share so many great topics for this year's lineup.
Monthly NAVIGATING POINTS trainings are offered at no cost to participants, as they have been sponsored by the St. Clair County Mental Health Board.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Ky is a Registered Social Work CE Sponsor through IDFPR (License Number 159.001594); as such, Ky is approved to provide CEs to ILLINOIS SOCIAL WORKERS and cannot guarantee that providers with different professional affiliations (such as counselors or marriage/family therapists) or those located in other states will be able to count these CEs toward license renewals. As Ky cannot guarantee decisions that any board/licensing agency will make when determining whether CEs will fall within their parameters and be accepted, please check with your licensing agency to determine whether these CEs will be accepted toward your licensure requirements. Furthermore, Ky cannot guarantee that any CE will meet specific requirements such as cultural competency and makes no assertion of such.
You can purchase 2 CEs for $45 per training by following these steps:
1) Register for the training using the links below.
2) Email Ky at KyMiller2022@gmail.com, stating which training for which you want CE credits.
3) Ky will send you an invoice for the CEs.
4) Take the course, noting the code phrases you will need for the course evaluation. The code phrases will be collected through the Course Evaluation - no need to email them to Ky.
5) Ky will send you a link for the Course Evaluation, where you will enter the code phrases and answer questions about key takeaways.
6) Once payment is made and the Course Evaluation is complete, Ky will send you a CE certificate.

Attachment, Boundaries, and Communication: The ABC's of Healthy Relationships - an attachment-focused exploration of showing up securely.

The LGBTQ+ community is frequently discussed in the context of “hard.” Ky dedicated time to honor the transformational magic that is experienced in our authenticity.

Helpers had the opportunity to hear a new attachment-informed take on burnout and compassion fatigue.

LGBTQ+ Attachment-Focused Approaches to Enhancing Outcomes helped teachers, administrators, nurses, therapists, and support staff better understand how to meet the unique needs of youth in our community.

This LGBTQ+ 101: Level Up training provided all of the basics about language, lexicon, and culture while delving deeper into cultural humility.

Insight about sexual orientation and gender identity from a developmental standpoint, leaning into attachment theory and family systems to optimize mental health outcomes.

Participants learned about attachment theory, healthy boundaries, and emotionally connective communication to enhance well-being.

In support of multi-disciplinary teams who support LGBTQ+ youth and their families, Ky provided an overview of lexicon and resources.

By many accounts, a life-changing exploration of the societal manifestations of imposed gender roles, a primary barrier to self-actualization.

Ky has enjoyed getting to know Emergency Room staff at local hospitals as part of their work through St. Clair County's suicide prevention initiatives.

What a great opportunity to dialogue with other therapists about the intersections of religion, trauma, gender, and dominant cultural ideology.

A panel discussion about various aspects of mental health. Ky spoke about ways to foster a sense of belonging for gender-expansive people.

Ky explored strategies to reduce suicidal behaviors and enhance affirmative experiences for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.

We explored how to support LGBTQ+ clients at the micro, mezzo, and macro level of social work.
